Our holistic approach to the Gospel is what birthed the feeding scheme. It was also started to help address the increasing challenge being faced by AIDS orphans and street children. The scheme started out in 1998 with one meal a week. It later increased to twice a week. This was made possible then through the offerings of members of Jesus Centre. Today, this scheme is not only providing these children with two meals a week but seven meals a week. More than 300 children from various communities in Katutura are fed on a daily basis, by trained staff members permanently employed for this purpose.
In 2003 Gerald and Jada Edward from Detroit Michigan started a foundation called “The Edwards Foundation” with the aim of helping us raise support towards the strengthen the scheme. We were able to build a dinning hall and kitchen where the children are fed daily. In the period of time that The Edwards Foundation was supporting the project, we were able to feed more than 324,000 children. Thanks to God Almighty.
Apart from feeding these needy children we also assist them with clothing. We ensure that the children that are part of our scheme receive adequate spiritual mentorship as we are aware of the fact that feeding with physical food is not enough. We feel duty bound to feed their spirits in order to build something that will last a life time.
Apart from feeding the children, we are currently building a learning centre so they can have a good Christian based education. We believe that education is the key to helping to build a sustainable future for the children.
